Texas Peer Assistance Program for Nurses

As compassionate caregivers, nurses carry the emotions of patients and their families on their shoulders daily.  Nurses often work incredibly long hours in stressful working conditions.  Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Licensed Vocational Nurses live under the constant pressure of performing care in the context of life or death situations. Considering the extraordinary stress that the nursing profession works under, it is not surprising that nurses have a high incidence of substance abuse.

The Texas Peer Assistance Program for Nurses  (TPAPN) is a program designed to assist nurses to get help for substance abuse problems and to maintain the license and profession they have dedicated their careers to. Sober Houston has partnered with providers experienced in leading nurses enrolled in the TPAPN program through the recovery process and through the TPAPN paperwork in order to ensure that they can continue to work in the field.
